Brian Plackis Cheng
Chief Operations Officer, Blue Casa
Brian Plackis Cheng has twenty years of experience in technology and telecom companies including MCI, software.com, Openwave and Blue Casa. At MCI, Brian managed Technology Planning for the $1 billion IT division deploying distributed systems, converting SNA networks to IP, and launched first enterprise wide Internet messaging to a Fortune 500 in 1995.
In 1998, Brian joined software.com managing Americas and later European regions through rapid growth including an IPO and a $6.8B acquisition by Phone.com (now Openwave) in 2001. During this period, software.com grew from $5M in revenue to more than $100M in revenue. Post acquisition, Brian managed the Openwave Americas business unit to successful $50M quarters.
At Blue Casa, Brian was a founding investor in April 2003 and joined the company full time in February 2004. As CFO, Brian raised more than $60M of equity and debt financing. Brian developed an automated business platform that allowed the company to scale personalized service quickly to more than 50K customers. As COO, Brian manages the business and focuses on developing exciting service opportunities for the Hispanic home market.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
